Every child deserves to feel confident in English.
Some students come to me because they are struggling and need support to build their skills. Others are already achieving highly but feel frustrated, overwhelmed or unsure how to turn their knowledge into the grades they are capable of achieving.
English can sometimes feel confusing, even for very able students. As an experienced GCSE English examiner and tutor, I help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for and develop practical strategies they can apply with confidence.
Once students understand how English works and what earns marks, the subject often becomes much clearer and far less intimidating.

Hi Verity,
Louis' received his results today, and he achieved a grade 8 for English Language and a grade 7 for English Literature. He said that the marks were Lit: 48/64 (4/4 for spelling and grammar) and Lang: 58/80. He said that based upon the grade boundaries for those exams, a grade 8 for Literature would have been a score of 49+ and for Language a grade 9 would have been a score of 60+.
